As PASAJ @ Barın Han, we are finally hosting a project that we have been following for a long time and are proud to welcome at Barın Han on January 5th. 'Pedestrians on Stony Bridges' is an art project that combines sound, movement, and visuals with six contemporary dance performances that take place on historical stone bridges from Salihli to Frankfurt, Izmir to Balıkesir.
Curated by Şafak Ersözlü and produced by Sarp Keskiner, 'Pedestrians on Stone Bridges,' combines family photographs, sound design, and oral history to explore memory, migration and social change. The project considers stone bridges as historical memory and focuses on inner journeys and sensory processes by using family photographs as a bridge between the past and the present. Based on displacement, Sarp Keskiner's sound designs, Nick Rothwell's compositions, Ünal Ersözlü's poems, and Metehan Kayan - Yazı Ece Köz's movement and video designs bring together individual narratives traveling between cities and countries; the project's documentary is by Jack Nelson.
This special project is crowned with an art book published with the support of the SAHA Association. The book brings together the outputs of the exhibitions organized in Izmir, Frankfurt, Pristina, and Istanbul between February 2023 and 2024.
The exhibition invites art lovers to an unforgettable experience at the intersection of contemporary dance performances and visual arts in Salihli, Urla, Bergama, Karaburun, Konak, Ayvalık, and Frankfurt. The opening of the exhibition will take place on Friday, January 5 at 11:00 and will be open to visitors from Tuesday - Saturday from 11:00 to 18:00. On Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 17:30, we will be with the artists and the project for the Performance followed by the Book Launch.
